Even in her golden years, the 18-year-old is a labrador through and through, and if an opportunity arises to steal the cats' food - she is there. Not just loved by the humans in her home, she is even a friend to the family's five rescue cats and the six animals live extremely happily together. Fern is known to revert back to her youthful puppy ways when she sees the youngsters walk through the front door and she always ready to play with them despite her advancing age.

The Blakemore family adopted Fern in 2004 where she joined Andrew, Fiona and their children Amy and Daniel, who were 10 and eight at the time.Īndrew Blakemore describes the 18-year-old pooch as their 'soulmate pupster' who is cherished by the whole family.
